If you ask us, showing off your culinary skills for your loved one is much more romantic than a dinner out, but we understand it's not always easy. If you're looking for where to eat out this Valentine's Day, here are some options.

Area 31 at the Epic Hotel

Your choice between two four-course prix fixe menus: The Valentine of Rome and the Valentine of Terni. Dishes include squid ink fettucine with cuttlefish and pecorino; spiny lobster; roast squab; and potato gnocchi. The menu includes a selection of three wines. $115 per person plus tax and gratuity.

270 Biscayne Blvd. Way, 16th floor; 305-424-5234.

Blue Door at the Delano

Four-course dinner priced at $90 per person excluding tax and gratuity. Menu choices include scallops a la plancha, crab cake, rack of lamb with a panko-pistachio crust, and milk chocolate mousse. 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-674-6400.

Bin No. 18

For $120 per couple (exclusive of tax and tip), you get a plate of oysters and steamed mussles for two, cherry gazpacho with toasted almonds and crisp Serrano ham, and your choice of lobster-laced ravioli or guava-glazed veal. For dessert, chocolate truffles. Price includes a glass of wine. If you're single, contact the restaurant and join its communal table.

1800 NE 18th Street, #107, Miami; 786-235-7575.

BLT Steak at the Betsy Hotel

BLT Steak isn't going the prix fixe route, but it'll offer a number of Valentine's Day-inspired blackboard specials, including celeriac-foie gras soup ($14); a prime beef filet carpaccio with black truffles, hearts of palm, and arugula ($18); and a ten-ounce American Wagyu flat-iron ($38).

1440 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach; 305-674-0044.

Bourbon Steak

A three-course prix fixe menu starts with duck-fat fries and a choice of ahi tuna tartare, black olive caesar salad, Maine lobster bisque, or American caviar parfait. Entrées include ten-ounce American Kobe filet, organic Scottish salmon, and roast chicken breast. For dessert, choose from chocolate molten cake, passion fruit panna cotta, beignets, or a chocolate fondue for two. $105 per person plus tax and gratuity.

The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, 19999 W. Country Club Dr., Aventura; 786-279-6600.

Grass Restaurant & Lounge

At Grass, it's Valentine's Day "her way" -- that of chef Micah Edelstein. The six-course "aphrodisiac" meal goes for $35 per person or $70 per couple. Dishes include, elk, goat cheese, and pine nut meatballs with a pomegranate chili glaze; lamb chops with roasted beet risotto; and chocolate-avocado mousse with flambéed bananas.

28 NE 40th St.; 305-573-3355.

Hakkasan

No Valentine's Day celebration here, but you might want to do something unique and celebrate Chinese New Year instead. Special dishes will be available for the occasion and so will a live lion dance with percussionists.

4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 877-326-7412.

Paradise Farms

Get out of the city for Lovin' in the Garden, a Valentine's Day dinner at Paradise Farms. $165.50 per person. 19801 SW 320th St., #305, Homestead; 305-247-7855

Solea at W South Beach

You'll have a choice between two dishes for the first four courses and finish your meal with two desserts. Your meal might look like this: chilled almond soup with white grapes and shrimp confit, artichoke heart confit with quail egg and American caviar, creamy coconut rice with Maine lobster and piquillo peppers, and duck breast with fingerling potatoes, hearts of baby lettuce, and Kalamata olives. Desserts include lemongrass flan and chocolate ganache. $100 per person plus tax and gratuity.

2201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-938-3111.

The Cape Cod Room at the Bath Club

Brunch is not a bad idea because Valentine's Day lands on a Sunday this year. The Cape Cod Room is launching a monthly brunch from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. on Valentine's Day. At $33 per person, it's not a bad deal. The price includes one cocktail, a buffet of starters, an entrée, and dessert. The restaurant will also hold a Valentine's jazz supper from 6 to 10 p.m. A prix-fixe menu is available for $60 per person. Both prices exclude tax and tip.

5937 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-864-1262.

The Grill at the Setai

A four-course dinner plus dessert -- with oysters, foie gras, and confit duck leg among the options -- is not a bad deal for $250 per couple (plus tax and gratuity), considering where you're eating, that is. Add wine pairings for $50 per person.

2001 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-520-6400.
