An Eco-Friendly Cocktail Menu

The Mandarin Oriental, in tandem with  TRU Organic Spirits, has launched the first "all-organic cocktail menu" in Miami. Two of the tastiest-sounding tipplers are the Mandarin: TRU Organic Vanilla Vodka, organic tangerine juice, brown sugar and a splash of heavy cream (pictured above). And the Basil Melon: TRU Organic Lemon Vodka, melon, organic basil leaves, organic grapefruit juice, simple syrup and seltzer. These, and others, are available at the Hotel's M Bar and Azul restaurant.

There is more to the greening of the Mandarin's menus: Covers are fabricated from reclaimed wood, recycled paper, and soy ink. Working with organizations like Sustainable Harvest International, TRU purchases its' paper products from sustainable sources in managed forests, and plants a tree for every bottle of their organic spirits sold. In order to provide further ecological balance, the lumberjack association has announced that they will encourage members to drink a bottle of organic vodka for every tree cut down.
