Eating clean ain't easy. And what with the limited number of hours in the day and convenience of fast food, it's no wonder you opt for McDonald's more often that not. Ain't nobody got time for preparing a week's worth of meals from Whole Foods.
But with the addition of Green Garden Organics to the Gables, you've got one more uber-healthy lunch option to keep you away from artery-clogging crap. This cozy little spot is now serving up fresh pressed juices, veggie-stuffed nori rolls and other alkaline-neutral eats.

This is the first brick and mortar lunch location for owners Louis and Kim Duncanson. They've been growing certified organic wheatgrass, sunflower greens, pea shoots, mung beans, chickpeas, legumes, barley grass, microgreens and other good stuff for decades, and supply it to lots of local outposts.

When you sidle into the new spot, check out the cooler case. There, they've got a freshly made assortment of edibles to choose from. When we dropped by for lunch, they had nori rolls, hummus, a raw pie and several other options. According to Kim, they're feeling out their customer base before finalizing a menu. And they're all about customization. Tell 'em what you like and they'll whip up something special.
The best part -- everything they serve is organic and alkaline-diet friendly, meaning it's designed to keep your body's pH levels balanced, thereby preventing disease.
"If it's not organic, it won't be here," Kim says.
Everyone from Girl Scouts to bankers to moms have already started frequenting the new spot, Kim says. They also cater, for anyone interested in junk food-free gatherings.
They're open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., so pop in for an early morning ginger shot or afternoon snack. Your bod will be pleasantly surprised.
