Watching the Super Bowl in Miami does not have to mean going to a sports bar and having your $700 Prada loafers stick to the floor. This is Miami, after all. The home of excess.
Sure you want to pay attention to the game (you may even have a hefty sum riding on the Giants ... or the Patriots), but you want something a little more than sliders and beer. Here are some places to watch the game -- Miami playa style.
Dune Oceanfront Burger Lounge
This al fresco lounge at the
Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne is hosting a football beach party. Flat screen
televisions will surround the poolside restaurant. Watch the game as
you munch out on Kobe beef sliders ($19), Kobe beef hotdogs ($16),
bourbon barbecue pork ribs ($19), and nachos with braised short ribs ($15).
Sam Adams beer specials and $12 Chambord vodka cocktails help you wet
your whistle. Added benefit? Dune will validate your valet parking.
The Well
Party down at a ski lodge (well, the
closest thing in Miami Beach, at least) for the big game. The Well is
featuring a $45 all-you-can drink party, starting at 5 p.m. Upscale
snacks and neck massages by models will also be offered, making this
Super Bowl event a more hands-on experience.
The Rusty Pelican
The Rusty Pelican's renovated dining rooms are shiny as a new penny and Sunday is a great
time to check out the new and improved pelican. six flat-screen
televisions, and an all-day happy hour featuring beer, wine, and
appetizers for under $10.
The Mandarin Oriental
It's a game-day party poolside at The Mandarin Oriental, pitting New England foods against New York
favorites. will you go for the New England clam chowdah and Rhode Island crab cake burgers or the Bronx
sliders, boardwalk chili & cheese franks?" Pick your team and eat your way to victory. Special cocktails include New England punch and a big blue Margarita ($12 each) or buckets of beer ($20 domestic, $25 imported).
Edge Steak & Bar
Edge Steak & Bar is offering a private dining room without the insane rental fees. Gather your friends and snag a large room for up to 22, or a small room for up to 10 people. Watch the game while munching on upscale versions of boneless wings and seven layer dip ($12 each). Buckets of Dale's Pale Ale in a can are available (four cans for $12).
The Rooftop at the Perry Hotel
Rent
a cabana at the top of The Perry Hotel for 10-12 people and watch the game like celebrities do --
inside a little canvas tent while people cater to your every whim. Eight hundred bucks
gets you the cabana, one bottle of vodka, two Heineken mini kegs, and
some appetizers including hot dog sliders with dipping sauces, nachos
grande, and pork and short rib sliders. Not bad when you divide it
between a dozen people, actually. Call for reservations 305-604-6829.
