Well, we were being a bit facetious by trying to get excited about the Marlins going on the longest losing streak in MLB history, but it turns out the team is already on the brink of setting another dubious record. They could become the first team on record since at least 1916 to start the season with three shutouts.

After their opening-day 2-0 loss to the Nationals, the Fish again went runless last night in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the same team. Tonight they'll meet Bryce Harper and the Nats to finish up the series.

As the Miami Herald's Fish Bytes points out, no team in Baseballreference.com's records has started the season with three shutout losses.

As it stands now, the Marlins are just one of 11 teams to start the season with double doughnuts. Only three of those teams have gone on to have winning records, so things aren't looking good for the team.

Of course, maybe they're just trying to save something special for the five fans who will show up at the home opener this Monday by letting them witness the team's first score of the season in person.
