My Morning Jacket. With Mini Mansions. Monday, August 3, 8:30 p.m. The Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-7300; fillmoremb.com. Tickets cost $55 to $75 plus fees via livenation.com.

Wheaties may be the breakfast of champions, but in Miami, lechón asado is the meal of legends. That, of course — as revealed in a recent New Times interview — is what gives drummer Patrick Hallahan and My Morning Jacket the "ability to play instruments with balanced levels of aggression and delicacy," much like a smokin' chunk of roasted pork fresh out of La Caja China.

Ketchy Shuby. With Generous D. Thursday, August 6, 10 p.m. Bardot, 3456 N. Miami Ave., Miami; 305-576-7750; bardotmiami.com. Ages 21 and up.

Miami soul, as explained by Ketchy Shuby frontman and singer, Jason Hernandez-Rodriguez to New Times back in 2013, "means soul music from the bottom of the South. It's the bright lights, with the grind and hustle mentality, with integrity and heart." Watch "the purveyors of Miami soul" keep that musical spirit alive at Bardot this Thursday.

Mack-A-Poolooza. With Kygo, Axwell & Ingrosso, and the Chainsmokers. Presented by Y-100 and the Fontainebleau Bleau Live Concert Series. Friday, August 7, 5 to 9 p.m. Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-538-2000; fontainebleau.com. Tickets and show packages cost $50 to $60 plus fees via flavorus.com

The "sun is shining, and so are you." So make a splash and go fist-pumping with Axwell & Ingrosso, Kygo, and the Chainsmokers at the Fountainbleau's second Mack-A-Poolooza summer rager.

The Appleseed Cast. With Dikembe, Annnabel, and Wish Around. Presented by Breakeven Booking. Friday, August 7, 8 p.m. Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE 2nd Ave., Miami; 305-757-1807; churchillspub.com. Tickets cost $14. Ages 18 and up.

Churchill's may be known for booking solid local acts, but the Little Haiti rock gem does a pretty good job bringing in national talent as well. This week, the Appleseed Cast will be traveling all the way from Lawrence, Kansas, and tearing it up at 5501 NE Second Ave. for a night of indie rock.

Afro Roots World Music Festival Concert. With Hassan Hakmoun, Locos Por Juana, Bateria Unidos de Miami, and DJ Le Spam. Saturday, August 8, 5 to 10 p.m. North Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-861-3616. Single-day tickets cost $15 at the door. Two-day tickets cost $20 plus fees brownpapertickets.com. All ages. Visit afrorootsfest.com.

"Everything you hear that has a beat, that has a pulse, is a derivative of Afro roots," Jose Elias, the man behind the 17th annual Afro Roots World Music Festival, explained to New Times in a recent interview. And no other worldbeat musician epitomizes Elias' definition better than "the Godfather of Gnawa music" himself, Hassan Hakmoun. Check him out, along with Locos Por Juana and Bateria Unidos de Miami at this year's ARWMF concert.
