From underground electro-pop to mainstream success as one of dance music's biggest names, Calvin Harris has enjoyed a rise to the top that's been quite the whirlwind adventure. And though he's not the richest man in the world, his hard work has paid off handsomely.

Sure, he isn't exactly swimming in freshly minted gold coins. But the Scottish-born, London-based DJ, singer, and producer has banked a hefty chunk of frequent-flyer miles. And in a time when airline fees are astronomical, every perk counts.

However, a grueling travel schedule and some stage fright nearly got the best of Harris a few years ago. "I've stopped the live shows," he told Australia's Herald Sun in 2010. "I'm not a singer, I'm not trained. Taking it onto the stage in front of people was terrifying. I got much, much better at it. But I never lost the terror."

That's why instead of personally singing on tracks (as he did for his debut album, 2007's I Created Disco), Harris outsourced the vocals. He told the Sun: "I'm going to focus slightly more on production and DJing, and zero percent of my time will go on singing. I'll do tracks with people who can sing well: proper artists, proper performers."

So expect Harris to be doing what he does best — DJing — this Thursday at LIV. As for the vocals, he'll just press play.
