As fairgoers converged, they quickly realized something more serious was afoot — a woman lie in the aisle bleeding from a stab wound.
Details are still scarce at the moment, but Miami Beach Police Detective Kathleen Prieto confirms to New Times that a fight between two women inside the main fair at the center of Miami Art Week escalated until one woman stabbed the other with an X-Acto knife. The stabbing happened around 5 p.m., she says.
"There was an altercation between two females," Prieto says in a statement. "The subject took an X-Acto knife and stabbed the victim in the arms and neck."
The victim was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Her wounds aren't life threatening, Prieto says.
The perpetrator, meanwhile, was quickly arrested. Both women were art fair patrons, Prieto says, not exhibitors or other employees.
