The sneakers are nearly all black with a sleek coastal ocean blue tone on the entire bottom. The upper portion uses a balance of matte, polish, and reflective materials with minimal accent touches of metallic gold. Limited edition hats and socks will be sold alongside the footwear.
“We worked with Nile Patrick and Eric Miller, the Way of Wade designers, for some elements of the shoe’s design. My girlfriend picked the color scheme, and some of the store managers came up with the palm tree idea on the bottom of the shoe,” says 21-year-old
“We love D-Wade’s clean style, and this particular design does a great job of capturing a blend of Miami and his line.”
According to LoBue, the opportunity came about from his relationship with Patrick. The shoe designer has been buying LoBue’s unique tee shirt since he was selling them out of a basketball training facility nearly 5 years ago. “I started by designing and selling shirts in high school. We would sell limited edition shirts, which is why our boutique is called the Edition,” he says.
The store first opened in Kendall a year and a half ago. Since then, LoBue has opened up a second shop in Doral. Although the Edition has been selling Way of Wade products for a while now, this is the first time the two are collaborating.
“We love working with Nile [Patrick] and Way of Wade... We’ve become a family working together,” says LoBue. “Plus, it’s cool to see Dwyane Wade drop in every once in a while."
Not coincidentally, the Edition happens to be the only brick-and-mortar retailer to sell Way of Wade sneakers in the nation. You can find them on the shelves of the boutique’s two locations, one in Kendall (11776 SW 104th St., Miami)and one in Doral (7450 NW 104th Ave., #102, Doral).
