You may get your donuts when a sign says, "Hot Now" or have them with a side of coffee and think they're good for 'dunkin', but my friend, you haven't tasted donuts until you've had them from Mandarin Gourmet Donut Shoppe in Palmetto Bay, right off 184th and US1.
From their successful online catering site came the opening of their first store, and there is already talk of expansion to the South Miami area. Owner and Pastry Chef Michelle Vazquez was front and center when we entered the store. She explained the store's name ' Mandaring Gourmet Donut Shoppe' was "inspired from my children who are currently learning to speak the language."
The donuts are a touch on the pricey side ranging from $1.50 to $2.25.
We tried their blueberry marscapone filled donut. It was thick, sweet
and dense. The inside oozed with creamy mascarpone cheese and ripe
blueberries. Before we knew it, it was all gone.

Michelle told us that each donut is artfully crafted each morning from quality ingredients. "These donuts are not aerated dough that flatten when you bite into them, they're rich and decadent. I wanted to make a donut that would fill you up when you ate it, so my customers can get their money's worth." We say, "Mission accomplished".
