Make Vegan Milkshakes for National Ice Cream Month

National Ice Cream Month (July, if you were wondering) can leave vegans feeling a little left out. Sure, we can snag a box of Tofutti or a pint of Rice Dream at the supermarket, but getting anyone to serve us a scoop or mix us up a shake? Dream on...

National Ice Cream Month (July, if you were wondering) can leave vegans feeling a little left out. Sure, we can snag a box of Tofutti or a pint of Rice Dream at the supermarket, but getting anyone to serve us a scoop or mix us up a shake? Dream on.

Luckily, Whole Foods Aventura has our backs. This Sunday, they'll serve vegan milkshakes for $5 from 1 to 3 p.m., in honor of the holiday. But even if you can't make it into the store, you can whip up your own at home with this recipe. Enjoy!

Chocolate Coconut Vegan Milkshake

Makes a 12-oz milkshake

  • 1 pint of So Delicious® Coconut Milk Non Dairy Ice Cream
  • 2 cups of 365 Everyday Value® Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • SOYATOO! ® Whipped Soy Topping
  • 1 teaspoon of Raw Cacao Nibs
  • Preparation:

  • Add 2 cups of 365 Everyday Value ® Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk into blender
  • Add 1 pint of So Delicious® Coconut Milk Non Dairy Ice Cream into blender
  • Blend almond milk & ice cream for 20-30 seconds
  • Pour into 12 ounce container
  • Top off with SOYATOO!® Whipped Soy Topping & raw cacao nibs
  • "We'll have a couple of different milkshakes people can buy for $5," said Janelle Cepero, the store's Marketing Team Leader. "They taste just like milkshakes. You can't even tell the difference!" The recipe was dreamed up by Melissa, the store's Healthy Eating Specialist.

    Because what's summer without (cruelty-free) ice cream?
