Still fairly new to the scene, in a few short years DJ Troy Kurtz went from "Who?" to one of the Overthrow's resident DJs and half of TKO (a side project with local DJ Damaged Goods). Now he's released a proper (first?) mini-mix that shows off a style few get to see.
Usually, Kurtz likes to hit it hard with the bass, but his Haute & Bothered mix is a bit more subdued and sophisticated. It definitely has a feminine quality to it that makes it jarringly different from what we regularly get from him when we've heard him on the decks. And since we like surprises, that can be a good thing. The second half of the mix though goes into a bit more familiar territory. Can't expect Kurtz to fully give up his bread and butter, can you?
Kurtz will be celebrating the release of the mini-mix this Saturday at Cafeina, along with Corey Sleazemore (San Francisco) and Damaged Goods. Party starts at 10:30 p.m., 21+ with ID.
After the jump, download the Haute & Bothered mix.
