Last week Miami Light Project debuted a series of performances from commissioned Miami-based artists as part of their "Here and Now" program. Now in its sixteenth year, "Here and Now" gives local artists free rehearsal space and provides both professional development and the technical assistance they often need to bring their projects to fruition (plus, the much-needed cash in the form of the commissioning fee).

This year's "Here and Now" brought together some of Miami's most interesting artists, including 2015 MasterMind finalists Hattie Mae Williams and Liz Ferrer. The performances also included work by dancer and choreographer Lazaro Godoy and playwright/director Michael Yawney. For a sense of the wild show of last week's "Here and Now" performances, plus a rundown of what the program hopes to accomplish, check out our video from last week's performance above.

This weekend brings the program to a finale with performances on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m. For more information, including ticket prices, visit miamilightproject.com.
