There is something about cupcakes that instantly infuses joy. They unearth childhood nostalgia. They are cute bundles of sweetness. They are like small personal gifts just waiting to be unwrapped. Cupcakes are also the perfect sweet treat for Valentine's Day.

Like many cities around the country, Miami has been bitten by the cupcake craze. Some local shops have gained national attention after appearing on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars , while others have gained fame via word of mouth. Want in on the sweet-tooth takeover? Valentine's Day cupcake deals can now be found at some of the most popular local bakeries.

LA Sweets: With over 85 flavors on the menu, LA Sweets (located in the Shops at Sunset Place) is offering a twist on the traditional "box of chocolates" idea. Their Valentine's Day gift box features 25 mini-cupcakes topped by a custom fondant heart for $35. The box can be filled with any one of their many flavors and delivered for an additional fee. For more information visit their website or call 305-665-5288 and ask to be connected to LA Sweets.

2 Girls and a Cupcake: This girl power duo was one of the local shops recently seen on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars. The Hialeah natives are serving up V-day deals sure to satisfy singles and love birds. Specials like "Confessions of a Cupcake-a-holic"  or "Secret Crush" range from $16 to $27 and offer mini or regular-size options. The first 14 people to show up at their two-day pop-up venue (9805 NW 80th Ave., Hialeah Gardens) will receive a complimentary "2GC Cupcake Truffle." The pop-up venue will take place on Saturday, February 12 from 12 to 4 p.m., and Sunday, February 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information visit their blog or call 786-285-8587.

Sugar Mama Cupcake Boutique: The space at Sugar Mama's (94 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables) could easily be filled with racks of clothing instead of cupcakes. This dainty sweet spot serves 18 distinct flavors made from all natural ingredients. Sugar Mama's has rolled out a new Chocolate Raspberry specifically for Valentine's Day. Even better, every Monday (remember, V-Day is a Monday) patrons can receive a dozen mini cupcakes for just $10 (regular price is $13.75.) Call 305-774-0114 to order or check out their Facebook page for details.

Cupcakes Nouveau: This Coral Gables shop specializes in "gourmet couture" cupcakes and was also featured on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars. Stop by their storefront (4712 S Le Jeune Rd, Coral Gables) on Monday, February 14, and get a half-dozen gourmet cupcakes for 20% off regular price. Their unique flavors include the Chai Tea (with ginger honey cream cheese frosting), the Southernmost (vanilla cupcake with a key lime center), and the Caramel Bonbon (vanilla cupcake with dulcet de leche filling.) For more information, call 305-448-0011 or visit their website.
