Three world premieres in one incredible performance! Ride the cutting edge of contemporary music and other art forms as MTT leads an evening exclusively dedicated to new work. Composer Michael Gordon, a Miami Beach native and co-founder of New York’s Bang on a Can Festival, and filmmaker Bill Morrison, whose work was recently the focus of a mid-career retrospective at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, team up for El Sol Caliente, an exciting collaboration saluting Miami Beach, past and present, in honor of its centennial. Grammy Award-winning artist Bruce Hornsby takes the stage with newly orchestrated songs from his mysterious hit musical SCKBSTD. Ted Hearne, an emerging young composer and recipient of the third annual New Voices commission, premieres his Dispatches for orchestra.

The New World Symphony gratefully acknowledges the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives for providing imagery used in El Sol Caliente.

Sonny Emory will appear as Mr. Hornsby's drummer.
