America doesn't dress up. America doesn't pose (OK, maybe here and there — in certain parts of Miami, or in Vegas or L.A.). Mostly, though, America happens in discrete little moments when it doesn't seem like anyone is watching. That's the country revealed in "Artist Unknown: The Free World," an exhibit of found photography at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood (1650 Harrison St., Hollywood). Artists Oliver Wasow and John D. Monteith will display hundreds of American photographs they've found online, amid the babble of social media. Individually, the photos might not have meant much — a self-portrait shot from a truck one afternoon in corn country, a snapshot in a mystery girl's dormitory. Presented together, however, these snapshots create a portrait as big and weird as America itself. The museum opens at 10 a.m., and the exhibit runs through January 29.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 10 a.m.; Fri., Dec. 23, 10 a.m. Starts: Nov. 8. Continues through Jan. 29, 2011
