Aventura Mall has everything: an Apple store, a massive H&M, a Tiffany & Co. — the list goes on. And now the luxury shopping destination has something even more impressive. Just in time for the Miami Open, which takes place this week and next in Key Biscayne, Lacoste has set up a nearly full-scale tennis court inside the mall.

The clothing brand, best known for its crocodile logo, has scheduled eight days' worth of events for its 30-by-50-foot pop-up court. The list of activities includes adult clinics, serve-speed challenges, player signings, mommy-and-me yoga classes, private tennis lessons, and stroke development.

The pop-up is also part of the brand's participation in the U.S. Open, kicking off August 29 in New York. Lacoste will dress the tournament's staff in its signature polos and other gear.

"Tennis is an important part of Lacoste’s brand heritage, so installing a tennis court inside the mall allows us to share the sport with the South Florida area in a unique setting," says Joëlle Grünberg, president and CEO of Lacoste North America.
"The Lacoste store at Aventura Mall is one of our biggest locations in the U.S., so it’s the ideal setting for this activation," she adds. "We will be offering a diverse calendar of complimentary activities at the court, in partnership with Cañas Tennis Academy, founded by Guillermo Cañas. We’ll also be hosting Lacoste ambassadors including Mats Wilander and Gustavo 'Guga' Kuerten.”

Wilander is a former World No. 1 tennis player from Sweden, winner of seven Grand Slam singles titles, and one Grand Slam men's doubles title. Kuerten is also a former World No. 1 player from Brazil and has won the French Open three times, plus the Tennis Masters Cup.

Wilander is happy to participate in such a unique event: "Building a court inside a mall is a great idea," the tennis champ says. "It's not every day that you see something like that."

The pop-up is located in the mall's center court, on the lower level, so it will be hard to miss.
