UPDATE: The Mad Decent Boat Party is turning around to return back to Miami. The cruise was supposed to last until the Sunday, November 15. Mad Decent released the following statement today via Facebook: "We are deeply saddened by the news that one of our guests on our current cruise went overboard on November 12. The Coast Guard is now leading all search and rescue efforts and the ship is enroute back to Miami. The safety and security of our guests and the ship’s crew is our number one priority, all appropriate safety precautions will continue to be taken for this and all of our events. Our hearts go out to the family and all involved in this incident, and we will continue to support those affected during this difficult time." According to Rolling Stone, the passenger who went overboard was a 24-year-old woman from South Carolina named Kaylyn Rose Sommer. Rescue attempts thus far have been unsuccessful.

Days after video showed a man falling overboard on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas, a search is on for another cruise passenger who went overboard, this time during the EDM cruise Mad Decent Boat Party.

Around 3 a.m. today, Mad Decent issued the following statement:

Thursday, November 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship's crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time.
The cruise left from the Port of Miami on November 11 and was bound for the Mexican island Cozumel. The unidentified passenger went overboard in the Yucatan Channel, about 22 miles off the coast of Cuba, according to Your EDM, before the ship could reach its destination.

Headliners on the ship were Mad Decent label boss Diplo, Skrillex, Alison Wonderland, Flosstradamus, and many more
This year, music cruises — and themed cruises in general — have been immensely popular. Rob Gronkowski will have his own "Party Ship" this February, and even Tru TV's Impractical Jokers have their own cruise.
EDM cruises have been popular for years, the most notable being Holy Ship. Not surprisingly, EDM cruises advertise days of debauchery at sea. On Mad Decent Boat Party's website, the first paragraph of the details section describes last year's cruise like this:

We downed more than a few bottles of Fireball, so it’s a little hazy – but we know last year’s Mad Decent Boat Party was full of insane surprises. Like when Skrillex snuck on the ship for a massive Jack Ü set. Or when Flosstradamus got EVERYBODY in the mosh pit. And who could forget that epic MadFam stampede into the ocean on our private island with Major Lazer?!
We'll update the story as more details emerge.
