What a year it's been, Miami.

Between January 2024 and December 2024, nearly 200 restaurants, bars, bakeries, sandwich shops, pizzerias, and dessert spots opened in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Yes, 200.

Just this past November, 18 exciting restaurants opened in Miami, including (arguably) the most highly anticipated one of all: the reopening of the famed Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show in Fort Lauderdale. In case you missed the big news, after four long years of renovations and restorations, the legendary restaurant reopened on Friday, November 22, fully restored and featuring original artifacts and spaces.

Since New Times has the scoop on every single spot opening each and every month, we already have the latest on the hottest restaurants coming to the Magic City and beyond in 2025. From the exciting openings of the Mediterranean chain Cava in Plantation and Hialeah Gardens to the opening of Buccan in Coral Gables, it's going to be an absolutely delicious year in South Florida.

Buccan in Coral Gables

Palm Beach's popular modern American bistro Buccan will make its Miami debut in Coral Gables in 2025. Chef Clay Conley of Buccan in Palm Beach will be opening a Miami outpost of the acclaimed modern American bistro in Coral Gables next year. Set to open in 2025, Buccan will be located at 100 Miracle Mile on the ground floor of the mixed-use retail and office building. Conley, who is a James Beard Award nominee, forever changed the Palm Beach dining scene in 2011 when he opened Buccan, his take on a modern American bistro. The Todd English protégé, who has notched six James Beard nominations, renders top-notch ingredients into approachable, balanced, and robustly flavored dishes.

Cava in Plantation and Hialeah Gardens

We Cava-n't believe this either: Deemed the "Chipotle of Mediterranean food — only better" by fans across the internet, Cava, the fast-casual chain specializing in Mediterranean fare is headed to South Florida for the first time. Mediterranean chain Cava is opening its first South Florida locations in Plantation and Hialeah Gardens in 2025. The fast-casual spot is known for its custom bowls made up of options like tender braised lamb, herbaceous skhug, crisp falafel, creamy tzatziki, grilled meatballs, and roasted eggplant dip.

In January 2025, Riviera Dining Group (RDG) will open Claudie, a sophisticated French-Mediterranean dining restaurant led by RDG's head of culinary, Chef Michaël Michaelidis. The menu will feature flavors of the South of France with standout dishes like caviar linguine and tableside gazpacho. Renowned for bringing the vibrant spirit of the French Riviera to Miami, RDG seamlessly blends Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with elevated entertainment and immersive design.

Chop Steakhouse & Bar in Coconut Grove

Chop Steakhouse & Bar, a Canadian steakhouse chain, will open in Coconut Grove at the former location of the Key Club inside CocoWalk in 2025. Chop Steakhouse & Bar, a Canadian steakhouse chain, was founded in Edmonton, Alberta, in 2006 by Northland Properties Corporation, which also owns Moxies. The steakhouse is known for its steaks, seafood, and chicken combined with "warm hospitality and beautiful rooms." It has multiple locations across Canada, including in Toronto and Vancouver.

Eataly in Aventura and West Palm Beach

World-renowned Italian food hall Eataly is coming to Aventura Mall in Aventura in the spring of 2025 and to CityPlace in West Palm Beach in the fall of 2025. Eataly will be located inside Aventura Mall at 19501 Biscayne Blvd., Unit 3004, in Aventura. It will take up three levels and will span approximately 29,000 square feet. Over in West Palm, Eataly will join the shops and restaurants within the experiential neighborhood of CityPlace, located in the heart of the city's downtown, in the fall of 2025. The brand has leased space at the historic Harriet Himmel building, a 100-year-old theater in West Palm Beach, located at 700 S. Rosemary Ave.

Fooq's in Little River

Nearly a decade after opening its doors in a quiet corner of downtown Miami, Fooq's, the intimate "in-the-know" restaurant beloved by locals, is set to return in 2025 with a brand new look. Fooq's, which cultivated a loyal customer base for its cozy, "dinner party at someone's house" atmosphere when it opened nearly ten years ago, is plotting a bold comeback with a new location in Miami's burgeoning Little River neighborhood. The restaurant closed in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, citing a significant loss of revenue. Now, the restaurant is set to return with multiple dining areas, a chill outdoor patio, lush greenery, and even a chef's counter.

Maple & Ash in Downtown Miami

The Chicago steakhouse is opening at Miami Worldcenter in early 2025. Maple & Ash is an innovative take on the traditional steakhouse – mixing a modern aesthetic with authentic service to deliver classic wood-fired dishes.Founded by Chef Danny Grant, with two locations in Chicago and Scottsdale, the restaurant is known for its steaks and a coal-burning oven that produces its famous "Fire-Roasted Seafood Tower."

Prince Street Pizza in Miami Beach

Prince Street Pizza, the iconic New York City pizza shop known for its Sicilian "SoHo" square-shaped pizzas, is opening its first permanent Miami location in Miami Beach in 2025. Following the success of its pop-up location at Oasis Wynwood, which primarily served as an UberEats operation to loyal fans, Prince Street Pizza is finally ready to establish its presence in Miami, and Miami Beach fits the bill. Situated at 521 Lincoln Rd., the restaurant will give Miami residents and tourists the chance to taste the New York-style pizzas that have had a cult-like following since the pizzeria first opened in New York City in 2012.

Rosemary's original West Village location opened in 2012 and quickly established itself as a downtown destination. Named after owner Carlos Suarez's mother and inspired by her home and vegetable garden in Lucca, Italy, Rosemary's is beloved for its neighborly hospitality and seasonal Italian cooking that highlights locally sourced produce, hand-shaped pasta, and ingredients. Rosemary's Wynwood will open in early 2025 and will be located at 322 NW 25th St. in Wynwood.

Solana in Midtown

Solana is set to open in the summer of 2025 at the rooftop of the Standard Residences in Midtown at 3100 NE First Ave. The Standard Residences are currently under construction, with completion slated for 2025. Helmed by restaurateurs Jonas and Alexandra Millán of Juvia Group, Solana will occupy approximately 6,000 square feet atop the landscaped rooftop of the Standard Residences. The restaurant is set to have a menu and atmosphere inspired by the European Riviera, a major trend Miami has seen of late.

Acclaimed Japanese restaurant Uchiko is coming to Miami Beach in February 2025.

Uchiko, the acclaimed Japanese restaurant by James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole in Texas, is opening its first East Coast location in Miami Beach’s Sunset Harbour in February 2025. Chef Cole, renowned for his nontraditional interpretation of Japanese cuisine at Uchi, created Uchiko as a bold evolution of his signature style. Uchiko, meaning "child of Uchi," takes a fiery turn into new territory by elevating smoke and char alongside the fresh and clean flavors that define Uchi. The menu celebrates the artistry of the yakitori grill, offering a robust “from the hearth” section where chefs employ smoking and curing techniques for both hot and cold dishes. Guests will enjoy a variety of small plates, expertly crafted nigiri, and larger dishes such as whole branzino and tomahawk steak, complemented by freshly flown-in fish. Plus, expect plenty of cocktails, Japanese whisky, and sake.
