Ina Propriate way to kick off perhaps the most controversial murder trial of the decade. Dude, seriously we're all embarrassed for you.
Yes, George Zimmerman's defense attorney, Don West, began his opening statement today with an actual knock-knock joke.

Here's the thing about jokes: If you have to preface them beforehand, they're usually not funny. If your audience doesn't laugh, you probably shouldn't act shocked either. West comes off as almost chiding the jurors because they didn't chuckle at the actual knock-knock joke he used to start off the defense of a man accused of killing an unarmed teenager.
If it's true that "sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying," we almost hope Zimmerman himself is laughing over the fact that this is the dude he's hired to defend him in a court of law. Because right now, we'd be crying.
