Readers Had Strong Feelings About Where They'd Take Someone They Hate in Miami

As a local alt-weekly, New Times often highlights the best of what our city has to offer — we even publish a special Best of Miami issue in that spirit each summer. Still, sometimes, you have to call a spade a spade.

That's precisely what we did last week with our list of places to take someone you hate in Miami. From tourist traps to neglected landmarks and infrastructure, our former senior music editor Jose Duran sounded off on Miami lowlights that leave much to be desired — the types of places you take someone who's only hitting you up because they want a free couch to crash on on their way to Ocean Drive.

Many readers concurred with his takes. "This article was actually dead on," wrote one Redditor. "I was not expecting to agree with every single place, but I did." Others took exception to some of his picks, with Bayside and the Everglades eliciting the most ardent defences. A handful of you even added your own suggestions. Here's a sampling of what our readers had to say.

Though many conceded the marketplace needs an upgrade, Bayside had its defenders.
