Everyone knows the best way to burn calories is with a fun activity that doesn’t even feel like exercise. Every time you hit a dance floor, you’re toning your thighs, working that middle, even warming up those arms. Any style of music will do, as long as it’s bumping, but we find ourselves partial to hip-hop dance classes for maximum fun and sweat potential. It turns out the good folks at Parrot Jungle (1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami) feel the same way about rap workouts. For the ninth year in a row, they’re teaming up with the Carrie Meek Foundation to bring music-loving gym rats Hip Hop 4 Health, a combination dance competition and health fair featuring information and resources from more than 20 groups and organizations right here in our own community. This is the big HH4H finale, and dance teams who’ve worked their way to the top will be twerkin’ for the win. Come out Saturday to cheer them on and dance along. Sweat out your workweek troubles and burn a few calories while you learn how to continue making healthy decisions, or get involved in local groups that strive to make all of Miami a little healthier. The event kicks off at 2:30 p.m. and is free to attend. Call 305-529-9506 or visit jungleisland.com.
