The Jacquemontia reclinata, an extremely rare and endangered perennial vine, can be found only in the sandy dunes of South Florida’s eastern coastlines. Today from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Jill Cunniff -- lead vocalist and bass player for the band Luscious Jackson -- will attempt to reintroduce our native vine to its natural habitat. She’ll be participating in the Surfrider Foundation and Barefoot Wine’s Beach Rescue Project at North Shore Open Space Park. The group, which includes other enviro-lebrities like women’s WCT Surfing world champion Lisa Andersen and renowned surfer Matt Kechele of Kechele Surfboards, also plans to pick up any debris scattered along the coast, making good with Barefoot Wine’s slogan to leave “only footprints behind.”

Interested in joining this dune restoration renegade but sick of your environmentally kind efforts going unrewarded? Fret not: From 7:00 to 9:30 p.m., Barefoot Wine will host a celebratory winetasting at the Quiksilver Store (750 Collins Ave., Miami Beach), where you can feast your “Naked Eye” on a performance by Cunniff.
