John Adams, conductor and Timothy McAllister, saxophone.
As contemporary artists from around the world converge for Art Basel Miami Beach, legendary composer and modern icon John Adams returns to the New World Center for a special evening of artistry that includes his own Saxophone Concerto.
Aaron Copland, founder of the American Sound, takes a detour south of the border as he depicts a raucous dance using Mexican folk tunes that bristle with color and vitality. Revel in the fierce tenacity of Try, a recent work by a young American composer, before delving into Stravinsky’s own American sound in his final installment to the symphonic world.
Hailed by many as his "War Symphony," Stravinsky's revolutionary three movements are steeped in turbulent chromaticism and agitated motion before climaxing in a victorious ceasefire.
