Tiësto knows what its like to command a crowd. The Netherlands-based DJ became the first turntablist to appear onstage at an Olympics opening ceremony, during the 2004 Athens games. But that was no big deal: The trance master routinely plays before European masses of 20,000 to 30,000, teeming cauldrons of good vibes visible on the 2003 and 2004 DVDs Tiësto in Concert and Tiësto in Concert 2. Named the worlds top trance DJ by Britains DJ in 2002, 2003, and 2004, Tiësto has applied his remixing talents to Moby, Elvis, and the theme song to the Space Mountain 2 ride at Frances Euro Disney resort. More recent projects include his radio show, Tiëstos Club Life, broadcast Saturday nights on XM Radio, as well as last years Elements of Life album, which spawned a world tour, another DVD, and a Grammy nomination for Outstanding Dance/Electronic Album.
Hes currently touring behind his new release, In Search of Sunrise 7, a double CD that stems from his Asian experiences on the Elements of Life tour. According to his MySpace page, The first disc expresses the beauty of Asia, whereas the second one offers an energetic view of how trance goes down when it is played with an Asian flair. The crowd will be bumping at the Fontainebleaus new club, LIV, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. Tickets cost $75.
