We grumble about having to go to work every day, having to drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic on our daily commute, and having to pay our stupid bills every stupid month. Imagine for a second that you aren’t able to do any of those things, that the everyday routines that most people grumble through were out of your reach. That’s been the case for many of Miami’s developmentally disabled adults, but today there is a bright new bastion of hope for these willing and able folks. The good people at delevelopmental disabilities center MACtown Inc. are hosting a grand opening of Cafe MAC, the one restaurant in town where you’re guaranteed that every single employee is happy to work there.

The staff makes Cafe MAC unique — the waiters, the cooks, and the cashiers are all folks with disabilities who will prepare your meal and give you service with a smile. Here, your delicious ten-inch chicken fiesta sandwich will cost five bucks, and mean a big accomplishment for the people who made it and brought it out to you. Today, live music, games, and prizes will herald the cafe’s opening from noon to 3:00 p.m.
