Believe it or not, it is possible for you to exist in this world and abandon that endless chain of cigarettes and your nightly vodka routine. Were not judging; cross our black liver with nicotine-stained fingers and hope to die. But there is one habit you can feel good about -- eating. Although its not imperative that you shovel mountains of French fries down your throat, you do need food to survive, right? Thats why events like Ribfest 2007 are like music to our ears. Because from today until Sunday, November 4, we can choose to eat the whole hog (complete with barbecue sauce dripping down our chin) or daintily taste an item from each group of competing professional and amateur ribbers.
Today from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Homestead Air Reserve Park will be alive with the sounds of people devouring ribs, chicken, and brisket, all to the live soundtrack of great country music tunes by Phil Vassar and heavy rock by Grand Funk Railroad. To work off the inevitable slovenly sluggishness, there will be plenty of fun and games for kids and adults. Admission is five dollars, free for kids ages 10 and under, and that doesnt include the grub.
