Fashion Breakdown: Necklaces and bracelets are a mix of Marc Jacobs, Top Shop, and thrift; earring from a street vendor in Soho in NYC; the pants, jungle boots, and his Armani Exchange jacket have all been redone by Hand Crafted Statements.

Name: Dereck Francois
Occupation: Creative Director at Hand Crafted Statements
Do you customize all of your clothing? Most of it.
Any reason why? I just want to express myself, that's all.
Where can we find Hand Crafted Statements? HandCraftedStatments.com.

I am planning on launching my line sometime in February or March. There

are going to be blazers, jackets, hats, shoes, accessories.
Who inspires your fashion? Wow. The world. Just life, pretty much. Every time I step outside, I get new ideas.
Any designers that you are keeping your eye on? I've always liked Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen. I look at anyone that is unconventional, that steps out of the box.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
