As a founder and former artistic director of the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, Magaly Suárez has staged many a ballet classic in Florida. Her new company, Florida Classical Ballet, opened last December with her production of The Nutcracker. FCB presents two evenings filled with romantic and classical ballet excerpts and modern solos: Program I on Saturday, and Program II on Sunday. The brief seasons lineup features the grand ballet Paquita and the understated but lovely La Vivandière on both evenings, plus other fare. The small-plates style of programming allows each guest star to shine and each segment to deliver its distinct flavor.
Along with advanced students from Suárezs the Art of Classical Ballet School in Pompano Beach, FCBs invited guests (some of them Suárezs former pupils) from some of the worlds most esteemed ballet companies promise to impress. Florida Classical Ballet performs Program I on Saturday and Program II on Sunday at the Gusman Centers Olympia Theater
