Earlier this year, Montero competed against five other Miami bartenders for the regional title of best bartender at the Marie Brizard Cocktail Challenge.

That won Montero a trip to New Orleans to compete in the national competition at Tales of the Cocktail, where Montero won the U.S. title and a place at the 30th annual Marie Brizard International Bartender Seminar and Competition in Bordeaux, France.

Montero made it to round two in the International competition, but ultimately the winner of the world cup of cocktails was from Portugal, with France coming in second and Estonia third. Montero returns to Miami, having represented our city and country well. Here's Montero's Sunny Crusta recipe:

Robert Montero's Sunny Crusta

1 ½ oz. Tequila Ocho Plata

¾ oz. Marie Brizard Blackberry

½ oz. Marie Brizard Orange Curacao

½ oz. Lime juice

¾ oz. Grapefruit juice

½ oz. Agave syrup

Shake and strain into a sugar-rimmed wine glass.
Garnish with Filthy black cherries, blackberries, grapefruit and lime wheels and peels, and a pineapple crown.
