On Friday, Dino Ghilotti's friends and family gathered in Coral Gables to watch him walk the stage at the University of Miami's graduation. Today, they'll gather again at a Coral Gables church to mourn at his funeral ceremony.

Ghilotti was killed early Sunday morning in a two-car accident a few blocks from campus.

Update: Police have identified the driver of Ghilotti's car as Allison Meyer and the other driver as Rosalia Prado.

Coral Gables police are still investigating the accident, Officer Dean Wellinghoff, a department spokesman, tells Riptide.

So far, they've released only spare details about the crash. Ghilotti was the passenger in a car driven by another UM student at 4:37 a.m. on Sunday when they collided with another car at Bird Road and San Amaro Drive.

Ghilotti was killed and both drivers were injured in the wreck, Wellinghoff says.

Ghilotti, who earned a business degree at UM, was the scion of a prominent construction family from San Rafael, California that has handled scores of multimillion dollar projects in the area, including a $20 million renovation of George Lucas' Big Rock Ranch.

"He was going to go to work at Ghilotti Construction Company in Santa Rosa," Larry Kamer, a spokesman for the Ghilotti family, tells the Marin Independent Journal. "The family is dealing with a devastating situation right now."

Wellinghoff says police may release more information about the crash later this morning; Riptide will update this post when they do.

Ghilotti's funeral is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. today at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Miami Herald reports, with a reception to follow at the UM Newman Alumni Center.

Update: Coral Gables PD has released a bit more information about the crash, including the identities of Meyer and Prado, the two drivers in the accident. Meyer was driving a 2008 BMW X3, which collided with Prado's 2006 BMW 521i. The police are still investigating and say that "no findings regarding the cause of this crash have been made" yet.
