Oh, the heat. It's starting to becoming insufferable to be outdoors. Even if you make your way to the beach, the sand is too hot to stand on for more than five seconds and the water isn't cool enough to offer an escape from the soaring temperatures. Even at night, the breeze feels more like a warm blowdryer. I'm counting the days until fall gets here, bringing with it drier and cooler temperatures.
Project Revolution at Cruzan Amphitheatre
If last month's Warped Tour offers mildly entertaining escapism for the high school emo set, Projekt Revolution was perhaps an extension of that, with a bit better lineup that offered Chris Cornell and The Bravery. But I'm still not convince Linkin Park is anything but a light version of Nine Inch Nails. Click here to view the slide show of the festival.
Rock the Bells 2008 at Bayfront Park
The move from Bicentennial Park to nearby Bayfront Park meant the event was consolidated to one stage. And with cancellations by Santogold and The Cool Kids, there was little new-school represatation of hip-hop at the festival. Still, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Method Man & Redman, Mos Def and more delivered great performances that satisfied the crowd. Click here to read our review of the event.
Yasumicon 2008 at FIU Graham Center
Some may still live with their mothers but they are probably the future CEOs of America, so show some respect. Yasumicon offered a paradise for the cosplay and anime fanatic, with discussion panels, screenings, cosplay costume contests and more. Click here to read our recap of the event.
