Long ago, before there were Twitters, Tumblrs, MySpaces, Facebooks, Blogspots, etc., etc., etc., people had very few options in carving out an online presence if they didn't want to put down the money for hosting and the time figuring out HTML. The most popular option seemed to be GeoCities, which will officially close later this year. It's like a whole era of internet history will be scrapped from eternity.
We were going to round up a couple of old-school sites related to Miami for you, but we quickly found out that a blog called Miami-Forum did it about a year and half ago. There's actually some interesting stuff contained on GeoCities, and more than a few embarrassing attempts at early websites by Miami-Dade Community College and The Marlins.
Also, be sure to check out GeoCitie's "South Beach" neighborhood while you still can. Very few of them have anything to do with SoBe, but most of them make us cry a little tear in remembrance of internet times gone by.
