If the success of films such as Revolutionary Road and Closer has proven anything, it’s that we love to watch people treat each other like shit. So for those yearning for some sharp barbs and clever insults, check out Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure, a new documentary opening at O Cinema Thursday at 8 p.m. The film centers on two San Francisco men who recorded the real-life, drunken fights of their neighbors Peter and Raymond in the ’80s. The mania surrounding the original audiotapes made the brawling duo into cult figures, and the recordings became viral sensations. Recently premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Shut Up Little Man!, which is titled for one of the repeat insults hurled, tracks the rise and fall of this feuding odd couple. Most striking, however, the documentary proves there’s a little drunken belligerence in all of us.
