If you haven’t been one of the more than 100,000 people who have participated in the Susan G. Komen 5K Race for the Cure in Miami in the past 19 years, now is your opportunity to help fight breast cancer one step at a time. This year’s race will take place Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Bayfront Park (301 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Every dollar raised goes toward fighting breast cancer by providing research funds, medical treatments, support groups, transportation, prescription drug assistance, education about breast cancer, and methods of detection to Miamians. All money raised stays in Miami, and now the funds raised can be seen via the grants link on komenmiaftl.org. If getting fresh air and exercise with your friends, and even your kids, while making a positive impact sounds like your kind of event, register on the website for a small fee. When you register, you can also create your own fundraiser page. Registration costs $10 to $40. Call 305-383-7116 or visit komenmiaftl.org.
