Do you like poetry? Of course. Why wouldn’t you? But do you ever ask yourself, Why can’t I find a place to enjoy poetry and gardening at the same time? Some of the world’s greatest poets were inspired by nature’s beauty. Well, seek no further and rejoice, because the R.Y.P.E. Community Garden (136 NE 46th St., Miami) in Buena Vista and the people behind the O, Miami Poetry Festival are giving you Poetry at the Garden, a perfect blend of the botanical and the poetic. The grassroots community garden brings poetry and nature into perfect contrapposto and celebrates that ancient relationship between wordsmiths and mystic earthen muses. Before the day is done, the garden will give birth to a poetry tree, sewn from the poems by attendees and resulting in an interactive installation that will be a fine tribute to the marriage of verse and vine. If you’re hoping to read or recite any of those lines — be they original or born unto a favorite writer of your fancy — there will be an open-mike reading for all sorts of poems inspired by or related to nature. If you care to get your green-thumbed fix for planting and poetry, there will be a natural mystic blowing through the air from 2 to 7 p.m. this Saturday. Visit omiami.org.
