If you are not in the market for a boat -- or a man with a boat -- you will probably want to steer clear of the yearly clusterfuck known as the Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail taking place this weekend at the Miami Beach Convention Center and area marinas. Featuring more then 2600 exhibitors, the event boasts a sea of boats and accessories, in addition to insurance and financing information. Its the Target of the marine industry, says Cathy Johnston, southern regional show manager. About 60 percent of all boats are bought at a boat show or as a result of a boat show. Tickets cost $28 for todays premiere (beginning at 10:00 a.m.) and $15 ($6 for children) for the remainder of the show, which runs through Monday. But youll need a larger wad if you plan on bringing home a big one. Buses will be available to shuttle you from the convention center to the marina and remote parking areas.
