With a premier music fest in Ultra and a bangin’ food extravaganza in the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Miami is ready to conquer the science and techie set with Next: From Nano to Macro, Innovation at Every Scale. Hosted by the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and the Ryder Charitable Foundation, the event highlights the growth (i.e., dominance) of technology and how it quenches society’s insatiable thirst for “the Next big thing.” Throughout the two-day festival, visitors are encouraged to participate in a slew of interactive activities showcasing the inescapable growth of innovation. Science and tech junkies can ride dirty in one of Ryder’s big “green” trucks or an electric car from Tesla, get in touch with their musical side with sound demos and activities courtesy of Arduino Musical Hopscotch by DCR Arduino Brigade, design their own app at the App Challenge Workshop by TECKpert, join a weekend-long Hackathon Challenge that would make Mark Zuckerberg proud, and much more. Geek out at the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science (3280 S. Miami Ave., Miami) this Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. Tickets cost $14.95 for adults and $10.95 for children, students, and seniors. Visit miamisci.org or call 305-646-4200.
