It’s crispy. It’s crunchy. It’s delicious. It’s bacon. And it’s the guest of honor at the Great American Bacon Race, an event that’s essentially a 5K fun run with a ton of the best damn breakfast food in the U.S. of A. Created by Fearless Events, the Great American Bacon Race was born after a simple bacon station at one of the group’s mud runs became an instant sensation. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, there was really no other course of action but to create a race dedicated to all things bacon. Participants can count on plenty of bacon stations filled with treats, a one-mile Bacon Dash for younguns, a cold brew at the finish line, and an epic Bacon Bash After-Party, complete with bacon beer, bacon ice cream, free bacon, and other bacon-related swag. Nom to your heart’s content at Oleta River State Park (3400 NE 163rd St., North Miami) this Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Registration costs $40 for individual entries, $35 for teams of at least four people, and $20 for kids entered in the one-mile Bacon Dash.
