Sure you can sit around and complain about politics and the news, but singing about it is so much more fun. At least thats what Nancy Holson thought when she created The News in Revue: The Musical Scoop. The production began as an off Broadway show during the 1992 presidential election season before it swept the nation with its hilarious songs and sketches. While the groups other show Bush Wars has an obvious slant, News is more of a general social commentary. This is totally bipartisan, just good fun with a big, fat wink at the audience, says Holson. This show is designed for everyone. If it seems like were only bashing Republicans, its because theyre controlling everything right now; if you can find me some Democrats, well bash them too. The production runs for the next four weeks in the Encore Room at the Coconut Grove Playhouse, 3500 Main Hwy., Coconut Grove. Performances are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.; Fridays at 7:00 and 10:00; Saturdays at 2:30 and 8:30; and Sundays at 2:30 and 6:30. Tickets cost $35 and $40.
