Yes, we know there seems to be a film festival for every ethnicity and culture. We wouldn’t be surprised to receive news of a Swedish Pirates with an Eye Patch Film Fest. But, hey, you feel special knowing you have a chance to see movies that average Joes can’t. One good example: the best in Italian cinema being featured at the fourth annual Italian Film Festival.

After tonight’s opening film, La Seconda Notte di Nozze (The Second Wedding Night), you can break it down with the artists and directors at the afterparty at Funkshion Lounge (1116 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach). But don’t party so hard that you miss the rest of the favoloso fest. It runs through October 10 and features ten films, including Romanzo Criminale (Crime Novel), Il Mio Miglior Nemico (My Best Enemy), and Che Ne Sara di Noi (What Will Become of Us). Though ten might be too few a number for a festival, these films were specially selected “to show [the audience] the best of Italy’s production and on the other [hand] to show them something different than what they are used to,” says festival coordinator Flavia Ambrosetti. All screenings are at Regal Cinemas South Beach. Tickets cost $10 per film, and passes range from $60 to $250. Call 305-447-0233, or visit www.cinemaitaly.com for a complete schedule.
