Downtown scenesters were aghast when Stop Miami -- the little corner bistro that provided a popular haven for live music, affordable vino, and an eclectic, arty band of regulars -- shuttered its doors owing to an acute combination of relentless rent hikes and midtown Miami machinations. But if the fat cats thought they could stop Stop as easily as that, they didnt know the owners very well.
Danny and Alexandra Brody have taken their wine, along with their funky metal, wood, and wine-bottle-studded bar, back to the place that designed it: the not-for-profit arts organization Bakehouse Art Complex and Stop Miami are at the beginning of what could be a beautiful friendship, one that aims to foster creativity and community. We want to continue to promote Miami artists and stay true to our belief in the Miami art scene, and Bakehouses mission, explains Danny. The fun kicks off tonight at the final Wynwood Art Walk of the season. Stop by from 7:00 to 10:00 for wine, song, and Visage, an exhibition of Bakehouse artists self-portraits.
