Coconut Grove’s annual King Mango Strut is back to poke fun at 2012’s most outrageous stories in a grand, satiric, end-of-the-year parade. The only question: What (or who) will take the most heat this year?
Election madness will likely play a leading role. But what about the dearly departed Whitney Houston? The Twilight cheating scandal? And the parade will surely feature a few Miami zombies lurking about, with some marauders dressed as bath salts to match.
The King Mango Strut begins at 2 p.m. this Sunday at the corner of Commodore Plaza and Main Highway. It then turns left onto Main Highway, left onto Grand Avenue and left again at Commodore Plaza. Chances are, the strut’s costumed crazyfolk will circle around more than once. Commodore Plaza will remain closed until 6 p.m. to provide ample time for the things all King Mangoes and Miamians enjoy: booze, bands, and a wide variety of strutting.
Sun., Dec. 30, 2-6 p.m., 2012
