It’s all in the mix these days. With the purchase of just one mp3 player, Blackberry, or cell phone, you get a multitude of options. Don’t you just love that every gadget comes with a navigation system, internet access, and a built-in camera? Buying a ticket to “The History of American Modern Dance” fits into that wonderful buy-one-get-more-free trend. This performance is a fusion of dance, discussion, and film — and it’s the homecoming culmination of a Florida tour by the twelve exceptional dancers of Karen Peterson and Dancers Company.

With a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the mixed-ability performance focuses on the reconstruction of Doris Humphrey’s 1935 piece, “New Dance,” as well as Karen Peterson’s own “Streets & Alleys.” The first show begins at 8:00 p.m on Friday April 27, and the final performance will be this afternoon at 4:00 at the Excello Dance Space.
