Your platform for self-expression might be a diary, but for choreographer Gregory Maqoma, its the stage. Since 1999, he has traveled the world telling his story through movements that are at once strong and jovial, vulnerable and sincere, but all inspired by his life in South Africa. This Friday and Saturday, hell bring his latest tale, Beautiful Me, to the Byron Carlyle Theater. With a production as simple as his execution is unique, Maqomas four-piece band (sitarist, percussionist, violinist, and cellist) will lay down the musical foundation while he triumphantly dances all over it. Its part of Miami Dade Colleges Cultura del Lobo performance series, so expect to be enthralled, enlightened, and, most of all, entertained.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $22 and $26 for general admission, $18 for adults and seniors.
