You thought your coif was edgy, Miss Fauxhawk, but until youve launched a helicopter from your dome, your look is still plain-Jane. The style soldiers who go to battle in Hair Wars, photographer David Yellens book about the unconventional styles shown at the infamous hair show of the same name, are armed with hairy birthday cakes, eagles, and barbecue grills crowning their heads. And today at Books & Books, one of the featured stylists, Steven Noss, will be signing copies of the tome and showing you how he does fantasy hair.
In the salon, I cater to more of a professional black female clientele, but when I hit the stage at Hair Wars, I just let my creativity go wherever it needs to go, he gushes. It just gives me a chance to be creative and take hair to another level. See Nosss hairy-copter for yourself tonight at 7:30, or check out his website, www.myspace.com/weavensteven, if you cant wait that long.
