Help us weather the uncertain future

We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Miami. Thanks for reading Miami New Times.

A week into April already? Seriously? It's like someone pressed the freakin' fast-forward button.

But time flies when you're having fun, and let's face it -- this is Miami. We're all about the fun. It's kind of our thing.

On that note, you probably need a few diversions to get you through the work week. Luckily, there's plenty of fun to be had, even before Friday night rolls around again.

Monday

Mello Mondays Poetry Dinner Party at South Street: Nosh on soul food while simultaneously feeding your soul by listening to some of Miami's top spoken word artists as part of the O, Miami poetry fest. Nothing stimulates the appetite like good words.

Tuesday

Karaoke at The Stage: Stock up on some liquid courage and belt out karaoke classics. Don't Stop Believin', anyone?

Wednesday

Free Miami Jazz Society concert at the Miami Tower: If your hump day is in need of a little jazzing up, groove to the tunes of the Gary Thomas Quintet for a few hours.

Poetry & Music at the BBar: Make the most of O, Miami, and get another poetry fix, this time, to tunes.
