A new exhibit at the Dina Mitrani Gallery takes a firm stance on technology: The digital age murdered photography. Remember how long you spent composing a shot in the days of film? Compare that to your indiscriminate snapping with your digital camera. It's the image that's become expendable, not the film. In "Disposable: Nostalgia for the Still Image," curator Orlando Estrada invited eight emerging photographers to reflect on how the change in mediums affects the image.

Colleen Plumb captures what she calls "fake nature," challenging notions of what is Photoshopped. Abner Nolan elevates found photos by pairing them with celestial images. Luis Lazo's faded shots remind us that all family portraits eventually decay, while Danielle Bender photographs stills from VHS home movies. "Disposable" is on display through August 28.
