It seems South Florida will be spared from the full force of Hurricane Milton, but residents know it’s always best to prepare for the worst. In recent days, people have flocked to stores to stock up on water, canned food, charcoal, and other supplies.

New Times contributing photographer Michele Eve Sandberg visited Costco, Walmart, Publix, and other stores to see how South Floridians prepped for the storm. Let’s just say there was a run on staples, and we don’t mean the metal kind. Lots of bottled water, bread, eggs. Generators. Plastic storage tubs.

Oh, and booze. Hurricane party, anyone?
