Sure the 1950s were rampantly racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, and conservative times in American history. But they also brought us classic pin-up culture. Maybe all that pent up energy from sexual repression found expression in the emergence of wild rock n roll, rhythm and blues, and dancing styles that crossed over to the mainstream in the aftermath of World War II. All we really know is that burlesque dancing girls make Miami better, and we're glad they're here, and able to spin their titty tassles at nightclubs all over the county. Tonight is the kickoff to a new weekly event full of said ladies, their no doubt Bettie Page inspired pin-up chica counterparts, tattooers, and car clubbers for Rebel Tuesdays. And yes, there will be music, and art to go with it.
